Obituary for Jean Beverly Kern

Jean Beverley Kern (Nee Booth), June 23, 1926

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mom Jean Kern Sunday April 21, 2019 at 6:25pm at the great age of 92.85, just shy of her 93 Birthday! Surrounded by family, Mom passed peacefully in her sleep which is how she always said “when my time comes, I want to go to bed and pass in my sleep.” After surviving a fall, Mom went into hospital and after a few days developed double pneumonia.

Wonderful and precious mother to Susan (Robert) Moore, Gwen Storie, Lois (Larry) McPhee, Nina (Roel) Lancee and Jane (Shawn) Chadwick). Our mother was predeceased by her dear first husband, Richard Bearden, in 1987, her second husband, Charles "Bud" Kern, in 2013 and by her parents, Frank and Gertrude Booth (nee` Winschel).
Proud and caring grandmother to Alex, Paige, Leandra, Lucas, Taylor, Max and Kent and adoring great-grandmother to Skye, Braden, Corben, Ben, Charlie, Autumn and James.
Also left to mourn her loss is her brother, Richard (Nina) Booth, of Don Mills.

Mom had an incredible journey through life with mountains of challenges she faced with courage and tenacity including raising five daughters, often being at the helm running the family business 'Dick Bearden's Men's Wear' and weathering through the death of two husbands with courage and strength. Mom moved to Perth, Ontario in 2000 to be close to Lois and Larry McPhee and make a fresh start.

Mom is a much loved lady we will all miss terribly. Her her passing will leave a big void in our lives. She was a lady with a large personality, intelligence, tons of love, a wicked sense of humor and wise advice. She loved to share tales of her childhood with her 'little brother Dickie” and her parents, our childhood – with five girls, you can imagine the shenanigans and challenges!

Mom loved her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She would proudly tell people “I have seven grands and seven greats!”

We want to thank Dr. Richard Moxon who was our Mom's physician for 19 years. Mom appreciated Dr. Moxon's respect and care. They had interesting chats, especially when he told Mom “you are a vital senior.” We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses on the second floor of The Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth, who showed incredible kindness, respect and compassion to our Mom and us, day and night.

Mom, you and your life lessons have left us with big boots to look up to, follow and fill. You and all the memories we have will stay with us forever. Respecting and following Mom's wishes, her ashes will be scattered at a private ceremony. Mom, we wish you happiness and love from all of us as you continue your journey.

We love you with all our hearts!
